Hygiene in the Workplace

Hygiene in the Workplace

Hygiene and cleanliness in the workplace is very important to ensure employees and visitors are happy and healthy. We provide many products and services that will help keep your workplace nice and clean. We like to make hygiene in the workplace as easy as possible and you’ll probably find with the right hygiene solutions in place it will help with your cleaning processes too. Here we show you how AHS help. Washrooms Good hygiene at work is very important and as most germs and bacteria originate from the washroom it is crucial it is kept as clean and as hygienic as possible. Our WC sanitiser definitely helps between periods of cleaning. It feeds in a measured dose of active product into the cistern which then attacks hard water deposits in the toilet bowl, preventing the unsightly scale that can form. It also kills up to 99.3% of bacteria and germs and the foam concentrate keeps toilets hygienic and odour-free. When it’s time to clean the toilet you will notice it will need less elbow grease and harmful chemicals. It’s also more hygienic for you as it reduces the chances of sickness. Similarly, we provide a Bio-Breakdown chemical spray which is the best way to clean your urinals and surrounding areas as it kills bacteria and that unmistakable urine stench, leaving it clean and hygienic. Enclosed Working Environments Whether you work in an office, care home or warehouse it is likely bad smells will arise, whether that’s because someone is having fish for lunch, someone has smoked in a small hotel room or you care for the elderly. It can be hard to eradicate...

The struggles of being a Dad using toilets with no Baby Changing Facilities #squatforchange

The struggles of being a Dad using toilets with no Baby Changing Facilities #squatforchange

Are you a Dad or male carer that has to use public toilets to change your child’s nappy? Even for mums it’s not easy; long queues, impatient little ones in busy confined and often noisy washrooms. So, can you imagine not having a changing table at all? Well, that is the reality for most Dads who are frustrated with not having adequate and safe facilities to change their child’s soiled nappies. One frustrated father has launched a campaign to try to change this for the better. His objective is to have suitable baby changing facilities as standard in all washrooms. Putting your child an unhygienic floor or other unsanitary surface of a public toilet is often the only option. However, this Dad has come up with a makeshift solution. His squatting technique is uncomfortable and awkward, but at least it works, however there are better solutions. Donte Palmer is a Dad of three sons and has started the movement #squatforchange, as well as an Instagram account Three Boys One Goal. “What’s the deal with not having changing tables in men’s bathroom as if we don’t exist. Clearly, we do this often because look how comfortable my son is. It’s routine to him! Let’s fix this problem!”- Palmer Arguably, some toilets do have family rooms, for both genders to use however, these are in no way, commonplace. There are still an inexcusably disproportionate amount of fathers left without any baby changing facilities to use in their washroom. “Changing tables are important in men’s restrooms because fathers deserve the opportunity to be their best,” Palmer said. Absolute Hygiene Solutions has a range of Baby Changing...
Why you should be binning Baby Wipes instead of flushing them

Why you should be binning Baby Wipes instead of flushing them

For generations parents have used baby wipes to clean their child while changing their nappies. Recently, there has been a new trend that has seen baby wipes being marketed to adults for use while using the toilet. Traditionally, people use tissue to wipe and then proceed to flush it down the toilet once done, this process works just fine. However, the new trend of using “flushable” wipes raises concerns due to the aftermath of the flushing process. When a toilet is flushed, the raw sewage is funnelled to a nearby waste water treatment plant. Debris in the water is then physically removed by machines. Baby wipes do not breakdown due to the fact that they are synthetic and non-biodegradable, as apposed to tissue paper, which is made of organic material.   This creates significant problems for the machinery as baby wipes are prone to getting stuck in gears and pump impellers which will need to be repaired at high costs. “Water UK analysed blockage material taken from 54 sewer blockages across the UK. They included some in London, where samples were taken with help from Lanes Group wastewater engineers. It found 93 per cent of all identifiable blockage material was non-flushable wipes. Of that, 75 per cent, by weight, was baby wipes, while 20 per cent was cosmetic wipes, surface cleaning wipes, and feminine hygiene products. Just 1.9 per cent of material had been designed to be flushed.” – Water UK With over 300,000 blockages a year, the cost of repairs to these systems is approximately £100 million each year and a large part of this cost is due to...
Why you should be using the XLAir to fragrance your indoor space as apposed to an everyday air freshener!

Why you should be using the XLAir to fragrance your indoor space as apposed to an everyday air freshener!

It has been well documented that pollution in the UK is at dangerous levels – but did you know that air fresheners could be a part of the problem? A report conducted in 2016 by the Royal College of Physicians, has warned that it is not just outdoor pollution that people should be concerned about. Everyday products such as air fresheners, pose a great threat to the air quality of indoor space.  Some air fresheners contain butane gases. Butane is particularly bad for human health; the gas is a central nervous system depressant which can dramatically decrease activity of the brain, affecting physical and mental responses. Once butane is inhaled the fumes are absorbed rapidly through lungs into the bloodstream. The chemicals are solvable in body fat and pass rapidly to the brain and organs, where they take effect quickly. Although the initial effect only lasts a few minutes, this can be exacerbated in the colder periods due to areas being less ventilated; allowing the effect to last up to an extended 40 minutes. AHS have recently released a brand new product to their sustainable range of air care. These eco options help uplift and fragrance your indoor space without all the risks that harmful aerosols, solvents and propellents pose. AHS XLAir is the health conscious alternative option to fragrance indoor areas whether big or small. The XLair utilises a Hi-tech Smart Fan which enables dry essential oils to travel, for a complete uplifting experience; providing a customisable fragrance system capable of creating endless fragrancing options while still being kind to the environment. Are Your Staff Washing/Sanitising Their Hands?

Are Your Staff Washing/Sanitising Their Hands?

Staff absenteeism could be disrupting the efficiency of your workforce. Each member of staff in your company plays a unique and key role. Illnesses such as coughs and colds, accounted for approximately 6.3 Million days lost in the year of 2016. Respondents in the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) Absentee Management Survey of 2016, reported that nearly three quarters of organisations involved, experienced staff presentism (When staff are ill at work). We have between 2-10 million bacteria between our fingertips and elbows, this can double after using the toilets. Most infections are caused by naturally occurring harmful bacteria and viruses being passed by hand contact. There is an inexpensive and effective way to prevent the spread of germs in your workplace. Hand washing is the single most effective step in breaking this chain of cross contamination and preventing the transmission of foodborne illness, colds and infection in the workplace; ensuring compliance with legislation. After washing your hands and also for visibly clean hands, AHS recommends protecting your hands with Enduro, our alcohol free, moisturising hand santiser that continues to work 2 hours after application:  Absolute Hygiene Hand Care...
